News & Events | Press ReleasesSionex microDMx Chemical Sensor Incorporated for the First Time into a Commercial Product Release WALTHAM, Mass., - March 9, 2004 - Sionex Corporation, a company focused on commercializing chemical sensor chips and systems, today announced that Varian, Inc. has incorporated Sionex's proprietary microDMx detection technology into its new micro-gas chromatograph. The new Varian CP-4900 Differential Mobility Detector (DMD) was released yesterday at the Pittcon 2004 conference in Chicago, Illinois. "Sionex is very excited about this product release as we have been working very closely with Varian over the last few months to ensure that our microDMx technology is seamlessly integrated with their micro-GC product," said Anthony D. Bashall, vice president of marketing and business development at Sionex. "This is the first commercial use of our disruptive technology and we are pleased that Varian, a world leader in chromatography, is using it to improve and change the way analyses are going to be performed." It is understood that Varian will be selling the micro GC for a number of targeted applications in the petrochemical, natural gas, environmental, and life sciences markets. The systems will offer very high sensitivity and selectivity coupled with virtually matrix independent response by virtue of the Sionex microDMx technology.
